Under
the guidance of Dr Pachauri TERI launched The Madhavrao
Scindia Memorial Cricket tournament to facilitate the
spirit of sportsmanship in corporate bodies and also to
pay homage to the memory of a man who was not only a political
leader and a visionary but also an enthusiastic cricket
player. This annual event is held at Patchy Greens I and
II – TERI’s very own cricket ground approved
by the ICC – located bang in the middle of TERI
Gram at Gual Pahari, 30 km from Delhi. TERI also hosts
the TERI Cup and a couple of 20-20 tournaments. Needless
to say, Patchy Greens is named after Dr Pachauri whose
ubiquitous nickname is, you guessed it, ‘Patchy’!
The name reflects his deep love for the gentleman’s
game.
